I am qualified and experienced Counsellor and Supervisor and an Accredited and Registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy. I initially started my work as a counsellor in GP Surgeries in Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire and in Independent Practice. I worked as a senior counsellor at the University of Cambridge Counselling Service for over 10 years which included providing counselling to undergraduate and post-graduate students whilst also being part of the senior management team.
After an earlier career in Recruitment Contract Management, I worked for the Richmond Fellowship, a mental health charity, providing employment support and advice to adults returning to the workplace following a period of depression, anxiety, stress or other mental health challenges. I understand how daunting it can feel to return to work, or consider career and work-life changes at any stage in life, and this remains an area that I am passionate about.
I have a special interest in the impact of grief and loss and spent 8 years volunteering for Cruse Bereavement Care as an accredited volunteer and supervisor. During this time, I worked with many people who were experiencing difficulties following the loss of someone close to them. I continue to offer support for the far-reaching impact of grief and loss in my counselling practice.
I have formerly worked as a counsellor in my previous name, Sally Swain.

If you are considering counselling for the first time, or you have had counselling previously and feel that you would like to continue this journey, I understand what a challenging step this can sometimes be. I offer a warm, supportive, collaborative approach to counselling and aim to help you identify and navigate changes you may want to make in your life so that we can work through these together, at your own pace.
Making time to consider your well-being is the first step in finding a more sustainable way forward. With over 20 years’ counselling experience, I have worked with many clients contemplating life changes, struggling with relationship issues, separation and divorce, low self-esteem, work-related stress bereavement, grief and loss. My experience also includes, but is not limited to anxiety, panic attacks, depression, low-mood, sexuality and sexual identity, autism, ADHD.
I have also worked with many students during the course of their undergraduate and post-graduate journey. I have also supported many post-graduate students as they consider their next career steps, and the challenges this transition can sometimes present, both personally and professionally.
As an Accredited member of BACP, I am required to undertake a minimum of 30 hours Continuing Professional Development each year. My recent CPD includes:
